This group of fabric is a "brushed" cotton.  Flannel fabrics are fuzzy and soft to the touch and make the perfect blanket, baby receiving blankets, pajama's, quilt backings and much, much more.  This group features both "flannelette" and "flannel".  A flannelette fabric is made from a worsted yarn and has been around for decades.  It is a looser woven fabric than a "flannel" and does shrink and pill more than a flannel.  A flannel is made from a coarse woven yarn and then brushed to give it the softness.  It can be single brushed or double brushed.  It is typically more expensive than a flannelette.
